Speaking on Wednesday, the former Rongo parliamentary hopeful advised President Uhuru Kenyatta to adopt a clever tact as he seeks to clean the cabinet.

He urged the President to get a way of auditing his ministries and their holders in a bid to rectify things before an explosion that might stain his second and last term in office.

He advised the Head of State to consider acquiring the help of the Auditor General, saying that he could end up busting even more Cabinet Secretaries who are failing in their job.

"Uhuru should now consider sitting down with the Auditor General Edward Ouko and take a very keen look at his cabinet. He is very likely to catch people sleeping on the job," he said.

The governance expert was speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi Show Wednesday evening.

This comes at a time when three CSs are already being probed by the anti-graft watchdog after their dockets were implicated in corruption scandals.

These are Najib Balala (Tourism and Wildlife), Simon Chelugui (Water and Irrigation), Henry Rotich (National Treasury) and Mwangi Kiunjuri (Agriculture).

Chelugui's woes have since worsened following a revelation that his ministry gave dam construction tenders worth billions to a bankrupt Italian firm.
