Ukambani Governors Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) are seeking to have an audience with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The three trio wants to meet and discuss the state of development in Ukambani region.

According to the governors, their direct engagement with President Kenyatta will lead to the region's faster development.

They said Ukambani is likely to be left out in the Jubilee government's Big Four Agenda if local leaders continue to remain silent.

Last month, Governor Kibwana revealed that they have sought to have a one-on-one meeting with the Head of State.

Kibwana said they want to engage the President directly without going through other people.

On Wednesday, during a rally in Masinga, Machakos County, Ngilu said they are determined to push Ukambani region’s development agenda.

Ngilu said they will engage directly with the national government because they believe in President Kenyatta's' Big Four agenda.

The Kitui governor said Ukambani counties face similar challenges.

She said they had resolved to sit down and work with the national government for the electorates' best interest.

“As a region, we need leadership that is determined to lead us to prosperity and development,” Ngilu said.

The three governors vowed to champion development across the region under the South Eastern Kenya Economic bloc (SEKEB).
