Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor has been arrested by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) sleuths in Kisumu over corruption related matters.
EACC Communications Officer Yassin Ali said the MP was arrested on Thursday afternoon over alleged irregular payment of Sh68 million to a law firm by the Nairobi County government.
Reports indicate that he was arrested at a local hotel in Kisumu, and is expected to be transferred to Nairobi for further grilling over the scandal.
The Nyakach legislator served as acting Director Legal Affairs at City Hall, at the time when the alleged payment was reportedly made.
The MP is facing similar charges to those of his former boss, Evans Kidero, who is also accused of using the county's legal department to irregularly pay for work not done.
Mr Owuor is serving his second term in parliament under ODM and has been on EACC radar since April this year.
He could be arraigned in court after grilling in Nairobi.
