Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama on Saturday snubbed Deputy President William Ruto's function at Tente SDA Church in Nyamira.
The DP ended his two-day visit in his spirits, fundraising for Tente SDA Church and later Gekano Parish in Kitutu Masaba constituency.
But the absence of Governor John Nyagarama, who stays nearly 300 meters from the church and is also a member, did not go unnoticed by politicians.
While giving his Sh1.5 million donation, Dr Ruto questioned the absence of Nyagarama, suggesting that he must have been threatened by the ODM party.
"You can say hi to you Governor and tell him not to afraid of threats. Tell him to read Mathew 10 verse 26 which says: ...do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed; or hidden that will not be made known." the DP said.
Nyagarama is serving his second term on ODM ticket. He has been snubbing Ruto's functions in Nyamira, leading a group of politicians pushing for candidature of Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i.
While Nyagarama and his wife Naomi sent a donation of Sh30,000, it could not be established why he chose to snub the event.
"We are speculating a lot. As long as he sent his donations, why should we really bother him. I don't think the debate is appropriate," an aide said in confidence.
Ruto was accompanied by Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, MPs Joash Nyamoko, Vincent Kemosi, Shadrack Mose and Sylvanus Osoro.
