Deputy President William Ruto has once again lashed out at the local media for what he claimed is misreporting.
This is after the Standard on Sunday alleged to have quoted him saying the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) was a waste of public funds.
The DP dismissed the headline, 'BBI a waste of taxpayers money, says Ruto', as misleading and accused the publication of a plot to cause disaffection and push a hidden agenda.
"The headline of this article by the Standard Newspaper is misleading and sensationalist. It is clearly meant to cause disaffection and push a narrative that only the Standard knows. It is imperative that media should be guided by accuracy, truth and fair reporting," Ruto tweeted on Sunday.
This is not the first time the DP has put local newspapers on the spot for publishing alleged fake stories about him.
Four days ago, Ruto slammed the Star Newspaper for alleging his allies were planning to sabotage the looming referendum generated from the BBI.
"This is what constitutes FAKE NEWS. I know it is difficult but newspapers should try selling without the 'Ruto' mention. Please! Tafadhali woiye!" he tweeted on Wednesday.
Late last month, Ruto once again came out to deny a story by the Standard claiming he was snubbed by President Uhuru Kenyatta at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) where he was waiting to receive him from a trip abroad.
"FAKE NEWS ALERT!!! I was nowhere near JKIA. I am NOT surprised that some media houses and their owners are this desperate. Tuwasamehe tu!! (Let's just forgive them)" the DP tweeted.
