The committee members also want Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula to also be part of those efforts, Media Max-owned K24 Television has reported on its news portal.

Mr Kinyua, who is the chairman of the Senate committee, said that they were engaging the ODM party because it had the majority of Members of County Assembly.

"We want the IGRTC to be involved so that we can engage all of them. This is a matter that involves parties. Therefore, we are also engaging the ODM party leader because majority of the MCAs are from ODM. We are involving the party leader in these discussions so that we have a solution," Mr Kinyua said according to the K24 news portal.

Taita Taveta governor Granton Samboja has been embroiled in a tussle with the county's MCAs who have reportedly adamantly refused to pass the county's budget.

Governor Samboja vowed to petition President Uhuru Kenyatta to disband the county's assembly to pave way for fresh elections.

He has met Raila Odinga on 2 occasions to discuss the impasse at the county.
