By 11am, leaders had started trickling in for the unique meeting, ideally bringing together those opposed to Deputy President William Ruto's leadership and candidature for 2022 polls.

Senator Gideon Moi, who is keen to run for Presidency, was the chairman of the meeting, alongside CCM leader Isaac Ruto, who has since cut ties with DP William Ruto.

Also present were Zipporah Kittony, Silas Tiren, William Kamket, Zakayo Cheruiyot, Paul Sang, Nick Salat, Musa Sirma, Gladys Tungo, Zedekiah Bundotich among others.

KANU Youth Leader Kipchumba Rono said the leaders out emphasis on supporting BBI, farmers plight and joint working relationship between KANU and CCM.

"The meeting was meant to discuss the plight which mauze farmers have been undergoing. The leaders want to get lasting solution. Insecurity in the Kerio Valley region also featured," he said.

He added: "Supporting BBI was also part of the agenda. The leaders want a united Kenya. As a party, we also want to see how we can work with other parties like CCM."

President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga are keen to have the constitution changed through the BBI initiative, which has however been met with resistance from DP William Ruto.

Both Moi and Isaac Ruto are keen to thwart DP William Ruto's influence in Rift Valley. Initially, Isaac Ruto had given a hint of working with DP but has since leaned towards Moi.

Last week, Mr Isaac Ruto, who served as Bomet Governor, met Mr Raila Odinga at Capitol Hill where they consulted on the country' future. BBI featured during the meeting.
