Two male teenagers have gone into hiding after they raped an 8-year-old girl on Tuesday evening at Getare in Kisii County.
Confirming the incident area chief, Stanley Kiriago said the teenagers, Timothy Machuka, 20 and Evans Magaki, 18 lured the girl into a local bush after giving her Sh50.
The chief said the girl was returning home from a shop when the teenagers lured her into the bush.
“The teenagers lured the girl into a bush where they defiled her several times. Passersby who heard the commotion in the bush rescued the girl but the suspects managed to escape into a nearby sugarcane plantation,” he said.
The chief said the teenagers' parents have been informed of the incident and called on members of the public to cooperate to ensure the suspects are arrested.
He said tests done on the minor tested positive.
“The suspects must be arrested since they may turn out to be rapists. They are all school dropouts and the public should cooperate to ease the arrest of the suspects,” he noted.
He warned adolescent youths to stop raping minors saying they law will not spare them.
