While releasing the results, CS Mohamed noted great improvement in terms of performance as compared to 2017.

The top candidate, Juliet Otieno, from Pangani Girls, scored an A of 87.644 points.

The 2018 KCSE results were, however,  not good for schools in Ukambani region.

Giant schools known for posting good results in previous years failed to impress in the examinations.

There was no student from Ukambani schools who made it to the top 100 list nationally.

According to an analysis by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC),  here is how Ukambani schools performed and ranked per county in the 2018 KCSE results.

Precious Blood Kilungu from Makueni topped in the entire Ukambani region managing a mean-score of 8.32, followed by St. Charles Lwanga from Kitui that posted a mean score of 8.09, while Carmel Girls High school from Machakos bagged the third position managing a mean-score of 8.0.

Makueni Boys High School registered a mean score of 7.79, Mbooni Boys posted a mean score of 7.76, Kisau Girls had a mean score of  7.67 while Makueni Girls posted a mean score of 7.49.
