Kisii County council of elders have pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to complete the construction of Suneka Airstrip.
The elders led by their chairman Bosire Angwenyi said the construction of the Airstrip should be completed without delay.
"The Head of State promised that his government will allocate funds for the construction of Suneka Airstrip to be completed without delay. As elders we are reminding him that he should stick to his promise and give funds for the project to be completed," he said
Mr Angwenyi appealed to Kisii County government led by Governor James Ongwae to work closely with the national government for the project to be completed in time.
"Ongwae should follow up the matter and ensure the promise Uhuru made comes to a reality because the Airstrip will boost the economy of the county government," he added.
He stated that more jobs will be created as well as perishable agricultural products will be ferried to various markets across the country thus boosting people's income.
"Once the project will be completed we will have more people touring Kisii region to set up businesses thus increase the county's revenue collection," he said.
