The Nairobi County Assembly Minority leader claims that Sonko is reluctant to pick his deputy, a move he claimed is hampering service delivery of services to Nairobians.

According to the ODM MCA, Sonko’s failure to fill the deputy governor post is hurting development.

“He (Sonko) must push the process of picking the deputy and ensure that Nairobians have a deputy in seven days,” he told journalists at City Hall on Friday.

The MCA accused Governor Sonko of delaying the process for political reasons.

Imwatok, a critic of Sonko said that he will seek legal redress should Sonko fail to expedite the process of picking deputy.

On Wednesday, Governor Sonko shortlisted former Starehe MP Margret Wanjiru and gender activist Agnes Kagure.

He also shortlisted lawyers Karen Nyamu and Jane Weru for the Nairobi deputy governor post.

Sonko has been without a deputy for the last six months following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe.
