A section of People Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) on Friday held demonstrations in Kipkaren on the outskirts of Eldoret town over what they allege a private developer has grabbed their four-acre piece of land.
Led by Uasin Gishu National Council of People Living with Disabilities (NCPD) coordinator Titus Yego, the PLWDs claimed that they have been owning the piece land for over 30 years when they were handed over by the government.
They now allege the land has been grabbed by an unknown individual who is putting up a building without their consent.
"How can an individual start construction works at our piece of land without our knowledge, we suspect it's a private developer with permission from those in power," said Yego.
"We urge both the National and County government to intervene and speed up an investigation and tell us who the grabber is and the reason he is doing the construction works without our consent" he added.
The NCPD coordinator pointed out that the four-acre piece of land located in Kipkaren estate, Kipkenyo Ward was meant for the construction of offices for the officials representing over 3,000 people living with disabilities in the county.
