State House Secretary of Digital Communications Dennis Itumbi has asked Arsenal Football Club to reward Deputy President William Ruto for his loyalty to the club.
This is after Ruto was pictured donning a cap with Arsenal's logo while planting rice in Western Kenya on Friday.
The DP was in the area during the launch of the Sh5.8 billion Lower Nzoia Irrigation Project at Port Victoria, Budalangi Constituency in Busia County.
The project which is established on a 10,000-acre piece of land is expected to benefit over 12,000 households in the region which was previously affected by floods.
In a tweet on Saturday, Itumbi, a fan of Liverpool Football Club, said it was "bold" for Ruto to wear an Arsenal-branded cap at the particular event, and asked the English Premier League side to send him a few caps.
He asked the club, famously known as the Gunners, to send the invoice to his fellow journalists; Philip Etale, Emmanuel Talam, Mutwiri Mutuota and Kikuyu MP and Ruto's close ally Kimani Ichung'wah.
"Arsenal FC consider sending Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto a few caps. This was bold, somewhere in Rural Kenya. Philip Etale, Emmanuel Talam, Mutwiri Mutuota and Kimani Ichung'wa will pay and deliver. For the rest of us, we remain Liverpool FC strong!" Itumbi posted.
Responding to the tweet, Etale doubted Ruto's knowledge of Arsenal's players but pledged to give him an original cap if he proves him wrong.
"I doubt he knows any single player in my beloved outfit. If he does, I will gladly donate an original cap when my new season's kit is sent to me from Emirates stadium," posted Etale, who is also the ODM communications director.
