If you've recently gotten that text, call or a one-on-one conversation from your ex, letting you it's over, the holidays aren't looking that great for you.

However, it's not the end of the world.

Here are some tips you can use to navigate the holiday season if you're going through a heartbreak;

Stay away from social media

Ditching social media when going through heartbreak will help you a great deal. Being active on social media will potentially make moving on hard

Seeing your ex's Instagram or Facebook pictures cosying up and fully enjoying the holidays as well as obsessing whether they've watched your Facebook or Insta stories will make it difficult for you to move on. If anything, block and unfollow them to fasten your moving on.

Make memories by trying out new things

Luckily and sadly, you'll always have memories of people you used to love and care for. Thinking about the memories you and your ex shared is perfectly fine, but remember that they are just memories. The person in those memories is a different person in your life now, they've changed and you've changed as well. So creating new ones is the best thing to do to stop thinking about those memories!

Therefore, enough of the nostalgia and pity-partying. Get out there and be festive by trying out some new interesting activities; go out with friends, listen to new music, find a new hobby and so on.

Do not answer questions you don't feel like answering

Once word gets out there that you've broken up, expect to face a series of prying questions from your friends, relatives, co-workers and basically anyone who knew you two was a couple.

However, don't feel to answer any questions or explain anything, especially if you're not ready to talk about it. Allow yourself to process your emotions.  However, if you feel like ranting will make you feel better, go ahead! Do what's best for you at the moment.
