Thirdway Alliance party boss Dr Ekuru Aukot has predicted success for his constitutional amendment push under the Punguza Mizigo bill.
Aukot has been pushing for among other things, reducing the nation's representation, especially in Parliament by more than half, for a lighter tax burden on Kenyans.
In a tweet Friday, the former presidential aspirant said that a win is in sight, predicting a possible referendum.
He thanked Kenyans for backing the bill, which also seeks to introduce a single seven-year presidential term, saying that the efforts will culminate in a national meeting soon.
"Fellow Kenyans, I have seen and felt your support for #PunguzaMizigoBill2019 .I have heard and listened to you. This is your Constitutional Amendment Bill. It is the PEOPLE'S referendum. It has arrived. The time has come to PUNGUZA MIZIGO. We are converging soon," he tweeted.
Aukot's referendum bid is, however, likely to clash with another one being fronted by a joint union of forces allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Raila's allies have repeatedly poked holes into Punguza Mizigo, urging Kenyans to await changes set to be proposed by the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
On the other hand, Aukot has rubbished the BBI as an unconstitutional initiative wasting billions in taxpayer's money.
