Munene has been accused by a total of six parties of conning them, among them a family and five businessmen who say that he defrauded them millions of shillings.

In the first case, a  Nairobi couple has reported that it gave the accused Sh3.8 million as a down payment for a three bedroom flat they were buying at Sh8 million.

They say that they paid the money in installments between June 2016 and March 2017, in a deal that was signed at an office on Othaya Road in Kileleshwa.

However, the couple says that having bought the house off plan, meaning that the deposit was to help the contractor begin building the house, the groundbreaking did not begin as was planed.

They say thay this was to happen on December 2016, but did not happen, but was instead followed followed by cat and mouse games, leading to them reporting at the DCI.

"My husband and I became concerned that the said ground-breaking did not take place, and Munene began using several phone numbers," the involved woman told the Nation.

In the second case, five contractors are accusing Mr Munene of refusing to pay them a sum of Sh7 million after renovating a Kenol Kobil Petrol Station in River Road, Nairobi.

They say that he has since been writing them bouncing cheques, apparently unwilling to pay up.

Another complainant, Nancy Njeri Gacheri, is also accusing him of refusing to pay her Sh80,000.

She says that this is the pay for building materials she delivered to Vuyo Land and Development Limited.

Mr Munene was briefly arrstsed last week and released on a Sh50,000 bail over the allegations, but is not new to cases revolving around fraud.

In March 2014, he was charged with obtaining Sh1.6 million from one Jane Mbakaya, while presenting he could sell her a plot, a case that was thrown out after witnesses failed to appear in court.

About the latest allegations, Mututho defended his son, saying that he is not a crook as is being claimed.

“He is not a crook. Although they might have grievances, these people should pursue their issues with some decency," he told the Saturday Nation.
