After a battle of titans with Manoah Esipisu, who would later chicken out for London appointment, Itumbi and his team among them James Kinyua, Erick Ng'eno and Munyori Buku, launched a viscous fight to take over.

In a WhatsApp message that was quickly deleted on a State House group, Itumbi showed dissatisfaction against appointment of Dena as Manoah's deputy during the transition period.

"In a quickly deleted post on a State House Whatsapp group they used to issue instructions to junior officers, Dennis Itumbi, having not read the signs of the times yet again, took his first aim at Kanze Dena, as he had done for many years, publicly, privately, and covertly, against Manoah.

"But State House was reclaiming the prestige of the presidency, and with Uhuru’s second term in progress, and the March 9th 2018 handshake giving him political peace, cleaning house. And it had to begin with the communications unit, which had soiled itself so much in public that it had become a story all by itself, and not a good one," the site reported.

But in a bid to save Ms. Dena, an outsider, Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita made a quick decision to suspend all social media accounts that covered State House which was under their control in July.

And days later, the four would be permanently blocked from accessing State House, an indication that the President was fed up with their antics.

For six years, the four had waged a war against Esipisu, which culminated in a tense meeting convened by President in 2016 June where they were warned by Uhuru.

In the meeting, it's reported, a furious president insisted that they either respected Esipisu or chicken out.

And now fallen out of favour with the president, and with Dena in charge, the four sought refuge at DP William Ruto's Harambee House Annex.

The State House team, it's believed, kicked them out to restore professionalism through Ms. Dena, who was confirmed a fortnight ago by the President after six weeks of training.

For two months now, the four are fighting to space in Ruto's campaign team ahead of 2022 elections.

While Itumbi remains stranger at State House, his contract and that of the entire team ends in 2020 this is persistent denial that he was sacked.
