West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has said that it is too early to talk about President Uhuru Kenyatta’s successor.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV's JKL show on Wednesday, the county boss said that he is not ready to comment on whether he will back KANU or any other party in 2022 because it is too early to do so.
He asked leaders who are engaging in early campaigns to stop the same and concentrate on service delivery. He noted that the nation just finished the election, adding that it doesn’t make sense for leaders to continue politicking.
The governor, who has been very vocal on matters affecting the taxpayers, said that leaders are joking at a time when Kenyans want development.
“I will not lie and I want every Kenyan and every human being watching me to listen. This is June 2019. We finished and got our president in November 2017. We are just short of four months before he hits his two years,” he said.
“Meaning we have just another three years to go. What country, what type of a human being can dare imagine that you can talk about the future vigorously as though we have no president, we have no leadership. This country is not being run we are joking and we must stop that debate with immediate effect,” he added.
The governor also noted that Uhuru was right to warn leaders allied to Deputy William Ruto against traversing the country seeking support for his 2022 presidential bid.
