Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko was on Wednesday a guest at Citizen TV’s JKL Show.
The county boss shocked many by various revelations he made during the show.
He even admitted to have been smoking bhang with his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu when they were both MPs.
However, his revelations were not the only things that caught the attention of viewers and online users as he was seen with a lot of money in his coat pocket.
Online users were quick to judge that this was a show-off. However, Nairobi County communications director Jacob Elkana came out to set the record straight pertaining the money Sonko carried to the show.
According to Mr Elkana, Governor Sonko carried the money which he was to use in settling bills for patients at Pumwani Hospital.
“The governor, as you all know, likes to make impromptu visits to public facilities at night. The money you saw stashed in his coat pocket was meant to settle medical bills for patients at the Pumwani Maternity Hospital. In his Wednesday night schedule, he was to visit Pumwani Hospital after leaving Citizen TV studio,” he said.
He also refused to reveal the exact amount stating that he had no idea how much Sonko was carrying.
“However, I cannot reveal the amount of money he had in his pocket that night," he said.
