According to Nyando lawmaker and Raila’s close ally Jared Okello, the African Union Infrastructure representative will welcome Uhuru at the Kisumu International Airport on the date of his arrival which is yet to be confirmed.

Uhuru is expected to preside over the official launch of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) campaign in the county alongside the former Prime Minister.

Speaking to Mediamax Online early Monday, Okello added that the county leadership has since been summoned for deliberations with Health Cabinet Secretary Cicily Kariuki over Uhuru’s tour.

“The leadership of Kisumu county is meeting the CS today to plan for the function and how best we can receive the President,”he is quoted.

The same has been confirmed by county Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, who said that the county is ready for the Head of State who was at one time unwelcome in the region.

“We are ready, as the people of this region, to welcome President Uhuru because he means well for us,” he said while addressing worshipers at the St Stephens Cathedral in Kisumu on Sunday.

The tour can largely be attributed to the Odinga-Kenyatta truce of March 9, one that dissolved their political enmity that was witnessed when they faced off for the presidency in the 2017 elections.

Uhuru is also expected to launch a series of development projects in Siaya County on either December 13 or 14.
