Deputy President William Ruto has laughed off claims that the ruling Jubilee Party is on the verge of collapsing as a result of internal fighting and enmity.
The claims were first made by his close ally and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen late last month, with the Senate majority chief claiming that forces close to President Uhuru Kenyatta have invested heavily in a scheme to separate the two.
However, speaking to NTV at his home in Karen, Nairobi on Sunday, the DP rubbished the claims, noting that the party is standing on a firm ground and is not under any threat of a possible collapse.
‘’Jubilee is not built on weak grounds. We remain strong and cannot be broken by pedestrian reasons,’’ he said.
Murkomen alleged that the anti-Ruto team’s main aim is to prevent him from realizing his 2022 presidential ambition, claiming that the plan is to separate him from Uhuru in a bid to weaken him.
The forces, he claimed, are also behind Uhuru's lifestyle audit proposal, revealing that they are banking on the same to raise suspicions on Ruto’s integrity, hoping to relegate him before Kenyans, with the DP now expressing his readiness for the test, saying that he is clean.
‘’I have never been involved in any form of corruption either as a Member of Parliament or Deputy President,’’ he said in his closing remark.
