The Bible and the Quran teach us that love is kind and patient. Love is not envious, boastful, proud nor jealous.
However, cases of love-related killings have increased recently.
It might not be easy for everyone to figure out why this is happening. However, there are some common reasons that have been attributed to this shocking trend.
Here are some of the reasons why some lovers kill their partners.
1. Failure to follow religious teachings
The scripture teaches us that love is the greatest commandment. It also identifies that a man is the head of the family and wives should be submissive. However, this is not the case in most relationships and marriages as partners have abandoned their responsibilities.
2. Sex
Homicides that involve intimate relationships occur mostly when a lover cheats or someone feels unappreciated and used. Sex-related issues are among the leading causes of murders in relationships and marriages. According to Mr Mbutu Kariuki, a psychologist, everyone is a potential murderer when it comes to love. “When it comes to love matters, we all are potential murderers, particularly when feeling betrayed," he said.
3. Jealousy
This occurs when someone believes that he/she is on the verge of losing the partner. Some individuals argue that it is better to kill that person than to keep facing them in life.
4. Money and gain
Cases of people killing their partners as a result of shoddy dealings involving money are common. For example, there have been cases of women killing their husbands in order to inherit their wealth. This is caused by the desire to gain financial power.
