Speaking on Thursday when he inspected the ongoing works at the Nakuru County Referral Hospital (PGH), Governor Lee Kinyanjui said with cancer continuing to claim lives of many Kenyans, radiology centres are key in the health sector.

“We are working with the National Government to construct the radiology centre to ensure patients have access to quality and timely treatment” he said.

Currently, only Kenyatta National Hospital and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret have radiology centres.

The radiology centre worth Sh500 million will be situated next to the Margaret Kenyatta Mother Baby Wing at Nakuru’s PGH.

Governor Kinyanjui also inspected the ongoing construction of the ultra modern outpatient wing at the same facility.

The outpatient wing will house dental, optical, dermatology, Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) units among other critical services.

The project worth Sh600 million was started 5 months ago, and is expected to be completed early next year.
