Renowned lawyer and socio-political commentator Nelson Havi has hit out at those with the habit of not introducing themselves when texting people that don't have their numbers.
In a tweet on Saturday, the high profile lawyer expressed his annoyance at that habit and the assumption behind it.
He advised those texting individuals who don't have their numbers to first have the courtesy of identifying themselves before jumping into business.
"May I please, propose for the umpteenth time that if you are not in someone’s phonebook, you introduce yourself first before proceeding to any substantive business on WhatsApp. It is annoying to proceed otherwise as though the receipt is God to know who you are! ^DoS," Nelson Havi's tweet read.
Given Havi's stature as a renowned legal practitioner, his services are well sought after by those caught up on the wrong side of the law.
Those seeking those services are not necessarily those whose phone numbers he has, meaning that he is bound to receive texts from strange numbers.
Introducing oneself is regarded as an important aspect of phone etiquette and as Havi's situation proves, not everybody observes it.
Individuals who plunge into business with no care in the world to introduce themselves are seen as rude and uncultured.
