Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa has accused the current cabinet secretaries of what he termed as lack of competence and extreme laziness at work.
Speaking on Radio on Saturday morning, Aladwa urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack all of them immediately and replace them with competent and loyal Kenyans who can serve the public transparently and credibly.
“The cabinet secretaries should be appointed from the elected members of parliament because they are leadership oriented and will not involve themselves in incompetence issues because they were elected by the people: I feel that these cabinet secretaries are rude, more corrupt and arrogant, even if they are supposed to appear before parliament committees they deliberately avoid, they have really ashamed Kenyans,” said Aladwa.
He insisted that the increased graft scandals in government ministries are largely happening due to the fact that the cabinet secretaries are appointed anyhow, and outlined the importance of having a referendum that will foster amendments to the constitution.
He expressed concern on how most cabinet secretaries give huge awards and tenders to their friends, family members, and relatives without following the proper procurement procedures.
Aladwa added that this is his personal opinion, and he will keep lobbying for the constitution to be amended so as to get rid of the current cabinet secretaries and replace them with legislators as it used to be in the former constitution.
He believes by so doing, corruption and incompetency cases in the cabinet will radically reduce.
