In 2014, former Chief of Staff Prof Kennedy Ongaga was arrested for allegedly assaulting his brother's wife before he had his employment terminated.

And Onchana joined the league following Tuesday's arrest over delayed payment of Sh1.6 million to former Kisii Town Mayor Alloys Moseti, who won a case challenging his dismissal as Governor John Nyagarama's political advisor.

Buoyed by warrant of arrest, officers from Kericho and Nyamira police stations descended in Onchana's office minutes to 4pm before frog-matching him to the cells.

At his office, they disguised themselves as visitors only to handcuff him in the presence of his juniors.

Thereafter, in camera, Onchana was escorted to Nyamira police cells as workers watched in disbelief with some linking the move to corruption.

Mr Moseti insisted that the county government had deliberately frustrated the payments, adding that he had no choice but to 'work on them'.

On Wednesday, Onchana was driven to Kericho High Court where he will be arraigned in court contempt charges.

The county government has remained mum on his arrest even though top officials were seen speeding to Kericho perhaps to negotiate for his release.
