Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo on Wednesday evening called on Kiambu residents to join him in peaceful demonstrations to reclaim a grabbed piece of land in Kiambu.
Kabogo took on his Facebook page where he asked members of the public to join him on Thursday as they reclaim land alleged to belong to the Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).
"Ndugu zanguni kesho tukutane kiambu hapo kwa DC saa nne asubuhi kwa mandamano ya Amani tuokoe shamba la KIST," read the facebook post.
The land tussle has rocked the county since 2017 but efforts to reclaim the said piece of land have been futile.
The institute, which is located at the heart of Kiambu town, was founded by President Jomo Kenyatta and other leaders from the county in 1971.
Early this year, KIST's board of trustees would not see eye with the Board of Governors over the control of the institution assets.
It was reported that the trustees only handed only one and a half acres out of 196 acres owned by the institute.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training Act of 2013, stipulates that the institution should be registered afresh and its assets vested upon the Board of Governors.
This is yet to happen with KIST as it has no land under its name.
