Peter Mbugua Njenga was on Friday found guilty of committing the offence at their home in Munanda, Gilgil constituency in Nakuru County on March 30.

When giving the verdict, Principal Magistrate Liz Gicheha said that the prosecution proved beyond doubt that the suspect was guilty.

In her testimony, the victim said that the accused defiled her on two occasions, both of which she reported to her mother who, however, accused her of making it up to snatch her husband.

“I told my mother that I was defiled but instead she told me that it was my fault and that I have become my father’s wife,” the minor told the court according to the Standard.

Also considered was the testimony of the mother, Paulina Nakateiya, who said that she confirmed her daughter's allegations through her son, after being kicked out of her matrimonial home for confronting the accused on the issue.

"When I returned home, my son confirmed to me that his father was indeed sleeping with the daughter,’’ she said.

In his defense, Njenga pleaded for leniency basing on his role as his family’s sole breadwinner and an orphan.
