An MCA in Kisii County, Amos Onderi, helped a 32-year-old woman from jaws of death.
The woman who was suffering from haemorrhages for 16 hours and was being attended to by medical staff at Juwfiah Medical Center in Kenyenya.
The facility is adjacent to Wakenya Pamoja Sacco. She is reported to have started bleeding from her genital area from around 5 am on the previous day.
Onderi, in an interview with Kisii FM, on Saturday expressed his worry on how Kenyans are being mistreated at the hospital which he says, has no qualified medical staff.
He said that the woman called him at 10.22 pm, asking for help, and sounded already too overwhelmed.
Onderi then drove at that hour of the night, accompanied by a Sub-county Public Health nurse and clinical officer attached to Riokindo Dispensary, only to find the woman in a bad state.
The condition needed urgent medical attention in order to save the woman's life.
"I had no option other than drive in late hours of the night to locate the clinic and the woman in a rescue mission. I arrived at Kenyenya at around 11.17pm. I located the clinic and the deteriorated 32-year-old was in the hands of quacks," said the MCA.
"Already in Shock dizzy and shivering, I had been accompanied by the Sub-county Public Healthy nurse and clinical officer attached to Riokindo dispensary who responded to my distress call at that hour of need," he added.
In a quick check-up, Onderi and team realised that there were two other patients in pity condition who were students of Kerongori Secondary school.
He said that in the visit, they also realised that none of the medical staff was qualified. Patients admitted were receiving services from non-clinical staff contrary to provisions of the law.
They managed to take her to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for proper care.
