North Eastern is among regions in the country where hot political contests is expected in 2022.
Top politicians in the region have already started aligning themselves in readiness for 2022.
Women have not been left out of the 2022 succession alignments.
Here are four female politicians who will shape North Eastern succession politics in 2022.
1. Sophia Abdi Noor
She is the first female politician to be elected as MP in North Eastern Kenya.
Noor was elected in 2017 general election on Peoples Development Party (PDP).
She is among experienced Somali female politicians in Northern Kenyan.
Noor has been vocal castigating cultural practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) that demean women and girls.
She has become popular among North Eastern residents and will shape the regions 2022 politics.
2. Anab Subow
She is the Garissa women rep elected in last year’s (2017) general election.
Subow was elected on Jubilee party ticket.
The human rights activist is described as a silent but a political schemer with influence in the political circles.
She will shape the North Eastern 2022 succession politics on grounds that she is in Jubilee party and s is a close ally of Garissa Township MP Aden Duale and Deputy President William Ruto.
3. Fatuma Gedi
She is Wajir county Woman Representative serving her first term in office.
Gedi was elected in 2017 general election on Jubilee ticket.
The vocal MP was recently embroiled in controversy after it emerged that she was allegedly the source the money that was used to bribe MPs to shoot down a report on contraband sugar.
Gedi denied the allegations terming them a plot to taint her political character.
She will be among top women in North Eastern who will shape the 2022 succession politics.
4. Rehema Did Jaldesa
She is the Isiolo Women Representative elected in 2017 on Jubilee ticket.
She hit the headlines in 2017 after she declined to greet President Uhuru Kenyatta by hand out of religious convictions.
The MP is said to have strong women and youth support base in Isiolo and will be among those to shape the direction North Eastern politics will be taking in 2022.
