A 31-year-old man from Chinga, Nyeri County has uprooted his tea bushes saying that it is no longer viable to continue with this type of farming under President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee government.

The unidentified man captured speaking on a viral social media video, adds that it is for the first time tea farmers in his area are uprooting the much-treasured cash crop to try other alternatives.

"It was almost blasphemous to even think of uprooting tea bushes in this area during the regimes of Presidents Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki. But under this UhuRuto government, we have done it," the seemingly angry man says in Kikuyu as he throws off an uprooted tea plant.

The frustrated youngster nostalgically remembers the good old days when sex workers would travel from far and wide to tea-growing zones during the October annual bonus payments to 'enjoy' the fat tea proceeds with farmers but that is no longer the case today.

"How can you expect these girls to come here and during bonus payments we have more tea farmers lining up in the banks for loans than those lining up to receive the bonus payments? This Jubilee administration has really messed us," he adds.

The man argues that the perpetual fluctuating tea prices are a ripple effect of President Uhuru's excessive borrowing to fund the construction of 'beautiful roads and highways leading to nowhere'.
