Popular business mogul and Uasin Gishu-based politician Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki now says that he has the weapon against the rising levels of unemployment among the youth in the nation.
Speaking on Radio Maisha early Tuesday, Buzeki said that as President, he would ensure that each and every young Kenyan is given Sh500, 000 as soon as they hit the 25-year mark, a method he claimed would promote self-reliance.
Noting that less than 100,000 Kenyans attain the same yearly, Buzeki said it would only cost the nation Sh50 billion, but wipe out the unemployment menace.
‘’Nikiwa Rais nitahakikisha kila kijana akifika miaka 25 anapewa nusu milioni ili aitumie kama starter pack (each will get a half a million shilling starter pack),’’ he said.
This, he said, will save the nation from losing billions of money through youth empowerment programs like the recent twin sagas at the National Youth Service (NYS) where several billions were reported missing.
However, now preparing for his second shot at the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat after failing in his first bid in 2017, he said that his main youth empowerment plan is to introduce business hubs.
‘’Bajeti ya kaunti ni ndogo lakini sitakosa cha kuwafanyia vijana wetu. Nikon a mpango wa kuleta business hubs ili kuwawezesha kujitegemea (basing on the limited funds allocated to the counties, I will go for cheaper solutions, for example the introduction of business hubs),’’ he added.
