Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has said that ODM leader Raila Odinga is still fit for another presidential candidature.
Raila who is approaching 75, has remained silent on taking another shot at the top seat in the 2022 general polls, after four futile bids in the past.
Consequently, some politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto, whose presidential ambitions are already in the public domain, have been urging him to retire from politics.
However, in an interview on Sunday, Odhiambo said that Raila is still fit, claiming that he remains politically youthful and ideologically capable to lead in that capacity should he win.
"Of course. Raila is one of the most intriguing characters; he gets younger instead of getting older, he gets more vibrant and his ideas are always fresher," she said on K24's Punchline.
At the same time, she stated that the decision remains his to make, though she believes that he still has what it takes to vie and even take over as the next president.
"I don't see any problem, but that really depends on him. But for me, I don't see any problem," she added.
Although Raila remains mum on his plans, both his allies and those of Ruto have predicted that he will once again be on the presidential ballot come 2022.
Some of his allies have been heard urging President Uhuru Kenyatta to declare him his (Uhuru's) successor in line with their March 2018 truce, popularly known as the handshake.
Ruto's allies have also claimed that he is using the truce to interfere with Uhuru's support for Ruto, to enable him rally on Uhuru's backing come 2022.
