An elected Member of Parliament in Kisii County allied to NASA has defended Kisii County Governor James Ongwae following the successful first-ever Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting held last week, Friday in Kisii.
Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka argued that Ongwae should not give ears to his critics who are criticizing him for hosting the meeting.
"I am happy that Ongwae hosted us during the BBI meeting. A section of politicians from Gusii region who have come out to condemn the governor are doing it to get political mileage ahead of the 2022 polls," he stated.
He called on a section of leaders spreading propaganda about hiked graft in Kisii County to come clean and provide evidence instead of telling lies about the governor who is committed to serving the electorates.
Onyonka pointed out that there is no harm for governors to host such events given that the purpose of the BBI is to unite Kenyans.
"Some people who were invited to the meeting and opted not to attend should give Ongwae a break and allow him continue discharging his duties as a governor. We can not live with the lies," he added.
