Writing on Twitter on Tuesday while replying to a Daily Nation tweet on the billing scam, the former county boss claimed that he was being billed 250 thousand shillings by the power company.

Mr Kabogo vowed to have the matter looked into.

"I hope my 250k bill a month has nothing to do with this scam. We will revisit," Kabogo wrote on Twitter.

In an investigative report published on Tuesday, the Daily Nation shone a light on the collusion between members of the KPLC staff and non-employees to tamper with the billing system, describing the scheme as a well-orchestrated scam.

According to the shocking report, the non-employees were given access to the billing system to manipulate the bills that power consumers were supposed to settle.

The scandal lasted for a whole year before the cover on it was blown.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations, according to the Daily Nation report, has been carrying out investigations into the scandal with the view of bringing the culprits to justice.

Kenyans have been for long complaining about what they see as the high cost of power and have been calling on the government to revise the cost downwards.
