Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai on Thursday announced some changes within the police service unit.
Under the changes, Mutyambai transferred Central Regional Police Commander Judy Lamet to the police headquarters.
Lamet, who is a seasoned police officer, will now serve as the Director of Community Policing following the changes.
The IG also named Mr Patrick Lumumba as the new Central Regional Police Commander.
Before the reshuffle Lumumba used to serve in the office of the IG. Mutyambai has made a few changes since he took over office as he seeks to transform service delivery.
In August, Mutyambai announced the transfer of Rift Valley’s Edward Mwamburi to Western.
Mwamburi was replaced by Coast Regional boss Marcus Ocholla and Western’s Yakub Rashid was moved to the Coast region in the same capacity.
He also moved more than 200 junior officers who were working at the Kenya Railways police in a bid to ensure better performance. Kenya Railways police.
Mutyambai has since reiterated his commitment towards transforming the police sector since he was named to succeed Joseph Boinnet’s following the expiry of his four-year term.
The new IG is also expected to serve a four term in office after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s appointment.
