The search for the bodies of Mariam Kighenda and her four-year-old daughter Amanda Mutheu who were trapped in a car when it got submerged into the Indian Ocean has intensified as the government gives out more equipment to help with the search.
The issuance of the equipment comes almost at the same time when the South African divers hired by the family of the victims have arrived in the country.
The divers belong to Subsea of Subtech Group company in South Africa.
According to the Standard Digitaleported, some of the new equipment given out by the government include Advanced System Remote Operated Cameras.
Col Lawrence Gituma from the Kenya Navy who is heading the search mission said the new equipment will be used together with the other equipment which were being used in the operation.
"The strategy now we are deploying relies on the new equipment before sending the human beings for verification down there. The government got us new equipment," Col Gituma was quoted by Standard Digital.
The new equipment are expected to help in yielding better results for the divers.
Kenya Ferry Services Chairman Dan Mwanzo, on the other hand, explained that the arrival of the equipment had been delayed due to the lateness of Indian air force who were transporting them.
"We are late because of the Indian air force who had to put their big four ships in order. They have come for a visit and to do some exercise. However, we are going to embark on our operations anytime soon from now," Mwanzo said.
