Politicians opposed to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) are headed for tough political times ahead, Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa has said.
This comes at a time when a section of politicians, especially those allied to Deputy President William Ruto, have questioned the intentions of the initiative.
But Aladwa now says that given that the initiative is headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Jubilee Party leader, and ODM boss Raila Odinga, the critics have close to no option.
Speaking on Saturday, he said that the initiative seeks to bring changes which will be of great help to the nation, and those opposed should consider exiting the two parties and form theirs and await humiliation in the 2022 polls.
"If you are opposed to BBI then form your own party and await dust in 2022. People must be in these major factions which have the final say (Kama unapinga BBI jenga chama yako uone kivumbi 2022. Lazima watakuwa kwa hii mirengo ambayo ndio kusema)," he said.
Aladwa, also the ODM Chairman in Nairobi County, made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show.
He added that Uhuru's Friday meeting with Mt Kenya politicians in Nyeri is proof that he is keen on having the BBI realized, lauding him for urging area politicians to back the initiative.
He observed that Uhuru has demonstrated his seriousness on the issue, adding that the same also confirms that he remains committed to his 2018 truce with Raila.
"The handshake vehicle has arrived, the BBI one departed from Sagana yesterday. The President has told people to support the BBI (Gari ya handshake ishafika, ya BBI imetoka Sagana jana. Rais amesema watu wasupport BBI)," he added.
