Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has found himself under intense scolding and mockery for allegedly engaging in questionable actions, after he was pictured carrying stones.
The leader is said to have decided to arm himself after the crowds became hostile to him in Kibra's Laini Saba ward, during the by-election voting exercise on Thursday.
However, Members of Parliament allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party have scolded him, saying that he has lowered himself to an extent that he can't be redeemed.
Speaking during a fundraiser in Rachuonyo in Homa Bay county on Saturday, the group of 4 politicians accused Khalwale of engaging in thuggery and being a hindrance to progress.
“We condemn the former Senator for demonstrating the act of thuggery that was witnessed in Kibra led by Khalwale. Let him learn to be a role model in peace building in Kenya," Suba North lawmaker Millie Odhiambo was quoted by The Star.
Also present were Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Patrick Musimba (Kibwezi East) and Eve Obara (Kabondo Kasipul), who said that Khalwale demonstrated his love for divisive politics.
Obara called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to investigate claims of voter bribery during the poll.
“A lot of money was being issued to voters to influence their decision. It’s was a waste of public resources and electoral agency should investigate it,” she pointed out.
Millie Odhiambo pointed out that its actually Jubilee that was riding on violence and not ODM, claiming that she and felloe ODM members were roughed up in different polling stations.
Khalwale had been entrusted with the job of leading Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga's campaigns in the poll, however, the seat went to ODM's Imran Okoth.
