Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has joined other leaders in wishing Kenyans a Happy New Year.
In a message Wednesday morning, Joho asked Kenyans to embrace tolerance for the sake of peace and prosperity.
The Deputy ODM leader said that it is important for Kenyans to preach peaceful co-existence as 2020 starts.
“Happy New Year to you all lets make this a special year by preaching peaceful co-existence amongst ourselves,” he said.
His Deputy Dr William Kingi also thanked the residents of Mombasa for making the New Year event special.
He revealed that thousands thronged New Kibarani Recreational Park to mark the beginning of the New year.
“It was a great honour to usher in the new year 2020 in style at the New Kibarani Recreational Park among multitudes of lovely citizens and friends. Happy new year. #2020NewYear,” he said.
Joho’s message concurs with Uhuru, who asked Kenyans to work together for the sake of the economic growth of the nation. Uhuru also asked Kenyans to remain united, adding that the Building Bridges Initiative is evidence of a new dawn.
“The end of a year and the beginning of a new one provides us all with an opportunity for reflection and introspection as well as to plan. Most importantly, it is a time to give thanks to the Almighty God for the gift of life and for His care and provision to all of us,” said Uhuru.
