Kalenjin is one of the largest communities in the country occupying the largest part of the former Rift Valley province.
It is believed that this community migrated from South Sudan into settling at its current home land.
Since their entry in Kenya long before the coming of the white man, Kalenjins were feared and respected by their neighbours due to their well-structured leadership, high skills in wars and highly trained warriors.
However, there are some things which this community feared and respected them most and have been passed from one generation to another.
Here are three things which every Kalenjin fear;
Evil spirits
Religion is a sacred thing in this community. Evil spirits are believed to be as a result of curses by parents and ancestors. Evil spirits cause diseases, mental problems or disasters. They can, however, be overcome by performing certain rituals.
A white man and his language
Since the entry of the British into Kalenjin land, these two parties have never been friends. The white men murdered thousands of Kalenjin warriors during colonial resistance and this history is still at the fingertips of every Kalenjin. Kalenjin also don't like speaking in English and they can easily be identified when they do.
Death
Just like any other human being, Kalenjin community fear and hate this word.
