The rivalry between Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria and Senator Irungu Kang'ata has intensified.
The two sharply differed in Parliament on Friday after the governor was summoned to shed more light on his governance.
Mwangi wa Iria lost his cool when the senator attempted to pin him over what he termed as sleeping on the job. The county boss quickly fired back asking the senator not to bring politics into important issues.
The efforts to calm down the two proved futile as they continued to exchange bitter words in Parliament. The governor reminded the committee that the senator was a great pretender.
He claimed that Irungu has developed the habit of pretending to speak on behalf of the people, which is not the case.
“I didn’t come for that Mr Chair and at this point Kang'ata I didn’t come for that. Don't pretend to be speaking on behalf of the people of Murang'a. I agree but he is totally out of order. You don’t come to bring cheap politics in the house,” he said.
Sometime back, Mwangi wa Iria claimed that Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was behind his woes with the Members of the County Assembly.
