According to Kaikai, JKUAT’s Mechanical Engineering student Brian Bera deserves attention and not detention.

While making the appeal to the head of state, the renowned journalist quotes Francis Imbuga who once wrote, “When the madness of an entire nation disturbs a solitary mind, it is not enough to say the man is mad.”

Kaikai said that President Uhuru on Madaraka Day reminded the nation that there is a need to be a brother’s keeper.

Uhuru said that anyone who has depression needs special care from the people in his or her life. Based on the speech of the head of State, who is completing his second and final term in government, Kaikai advised Uhuru to reach out to the student and his parents to guide him to be a better person.

"Brian has reached out and the president should, in the spirit of his Narok Madaraka Day Speech, stretch his hand to him," Kaikai advised

While appearing on Citizen TV moments after the shooting and arrest of his son, David Bera said that his son has been showing some weird behaviour in the recent past.

He urged the President to intervene in the matter pointing out that the son deserves care and attention. The incident has continued to elicit mixed reactions from different quarters.
