And both ODM leader Raila Odinga and area Governor Okoth Obado are flexing muscles with hope their preferred candidates will win by landslide.

But with the region yet to come to terms after Obado's arrest, the orange party is under a serious threat with some loyalists accusing the party of stage-managing Mr. Obado's woes.

The Federal Party of Kenya Eddie Oketch, with the full blessing from the ODM governor, is keen to pull a surprise in favour of Mr. Obado.

And Mr. Ochillo Ayacko, who is running on ODM party, is keen to win the seat for Mr. Odinga, whose grip on the county is at risk.

In fact, Raila spent two days for the first time campaigning for a candidate in a by-election, an indication that the context could be tough.

While ODM enjoys support on six or eight constituencies, Obado's team is keen to capture Kuria East and Kuria West, a region that he has enjoyed support for years.

Rongo constituency, where both Oketch and Ayacko comes from, will also attract tough context between the two top candidates.
