As the 2022 Statehouse race continues taking shape each dawn, Raila Odinga's name won't miss on Kenya's lips.
Should he make the bold step, the former prime minister will be firing his last shot at the Presidency.
Odinga, arguably Kenya's most loved politician of ages, is serving as the African Union Special Envoy for Infrastructure Development in Africa and Kenya's key opposition figure, so close to power than never before.
His close associates and lifetime members of the ODM party that he leads insist that he shall be their candidate for the Presidency in 2022. Two of his deputies are also eyeing the seat.
These two are just but part of Raila's likely running mates for the 2022 race:
1.Peter Kenneth
The former Gatanga Member of Parliament and former presidential aspirant is seen as Mt.Kenya's voice of reason. He commands the region's significant support due to his development record while serving in parliament.
2.Gideon Moi
The KANU chair and Baringo Senator is the son of Kenya's longest-serving president Daniel Moi and can be Odinga's running mate as he will be bracing himself to go for the presidency in 2027.
Both Moi, Kenyatta and Odinga families have a long history in politics and President Uhuru Kenyatta may endorse the Odinga-Moi alliance as a way of paying back Daniel Moi's faith in him.
The two politicians are the likely candidates to be picked by Odinga as he commands the Western, Nyanza, Coast votes.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga last year paid retired president Moi visits in what is perceived to be a cordial and formal understanding of supporting each other for the 2022 elections.
Former President Moi commands the Rift Valley votes and his acceptance of Odinga presidency will make him Kenya's fifth president for one term.
