In an interview Wednesday evening, the party Secretary General Frederick Okango expressed shock in the growing romance between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

He said that the party cannot understand how Odinga has made his way to the President's side and appears very close to him despite having made the worst moves against him initially.

The two have been very close after their March 9 truce, a situation Okango wondered about, considering that Raila even swore himself in on January 30 to protest Uhuru's reelection in 2017.

"We cannot understand how a person who caused havoc after losing and went ahead to swear himself in as President, which is treasonous, is now sitting at the same table with the President," he said.

The latter was speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show.

Okango also expressed the party doubts that the two will realize their pledge to eradicate recurrent political problems in the nation through their truce.

He noted that the duo is yet to take any serious move to fulfill the same after inflicting too much hope in Kenyans.

Consequently, he said, they might sooner or later land on the receiving hand for failing to do as promised.

"They have started a fire they cannot manage. Its clear that whatever they are doing cannot eliminate tribalism and our remaining national problems," he added.

The party is headed by former presidential hopeful Ekuru Aukot.
