A local pastor from Omoenga village in Kegogi, Marani Sub County in Kisii County has gone into hiding after he allegedly defiled a minor.
Area assistant chief Evans Amenya said the Pastor Lawrence Manyara lured the minor into his house while she was returning home from school on Wednesday evening.
"Manyara called the minor who was with her friends from school into his house. The victim's friends waited for her to come out of the house in vain something that forced them to go near the house to see what was happening in the house. The victim's friends heard her crying from the house and raised alarm immediately," said the chief as reported by Egesa FM.
The administrator said members of the public responded quickly to the alarm only to find the victim in the pastor's bed bleeding profusely.
"The pastor escaped through the window into a nearby maize farm. The victim was rushed to Marani Sub County hospital where she was confirmed to have been assaulted," Amenya noted.
Kisii police commander Martin Kibet said police officers have launched manhunt for the suspect.
"The pastor will not hide forever. We will catch him up and take him to court to face the law," Kibet stated.
