The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has held a meeting at his Capitol Hill office with governors from the coastal region.
In a tweet on Monday, the former Prime Minister said that the meeting was aimed at holding consultations on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting to be held at the port city of Mombasa, considered the capital city of the coastal region.
"Held consultations with Governors from the coastal region ahead of the upcoming BBI meeting that will be hosted in Mombasa on the 25th of this month," the ODM supremo wrote on Twitter.
The county bosses who attended the consultative meeting include Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, Taita Taveta's Granton Samboja, Amason Kingi (Kilifi), and Tana River's Dhadho Godana.
The BBI meeting in Mombasa will come after the Bukhungu stadium meeting which was held in Kakamega county and another one in Kisii county which kicked off the BBI meetings.
Conveners of the meetings have framed them as aimed at sensitising the members of the public on the BBI initiative, that was born out of the dramatic handshake at the steps of Harambee House between long-time political adversaries President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
Critics contend that the meetings are aimed at securing the political interests of the head of state and the ODM supremo after the 2022 general elections.
