Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has disclosed that the said meetings by some top figures from Mt Kenya region at Hotel La Mada have been going on for months.
This follows claims that some Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and parastatal chiefs have been using the meetings to plot Deputy President William Ruto's assassinations.
Speaking on Saturday, the lawmaker revealed that the meetings are also attended by Mt Kenya politicians and leaders including himself.
He echoed Trade CS Peter Munya's remarks earlier in the week that the deliberations have been revolving around development, adding that they began in January.
However, he said that he was not part of the group that attended the last meeting, where the plot to assassinate the DP was allegedly hatched.
"This is not the first meeting. I have been attending the meetings since January (mkutano huo sio wa kwanza. Mimi nimekuwa nikihudhuria tangu January)," he said.
The lawmaker made the remarks during a phone interview on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning.
He stated that the claims need to be investigated due to the sensitivity of the issue, considering that it is touching on the life of the deputy president.
"This is not a matter to be taken lightly. However, lack of evidence will make it just empty talk (hili sio jambo la kuchukuliwa bila uzito. Hata hivyo, kama hakuna evidence itakuwa pang'ang'a tu)," he added.
He, however, noted that the group should not be criticised for coming together to discuss development matters.
