The new revelation following DNA test carried out on the governor and his PA Michael Oyamo days after the murder, now puts the Migori County boss at the epicenter of investigations.

With the probe intensified by investigators, Mr. Obado will now have to record a new statement over the gruesome murder.

And the DNA test done, reports the Daily Nation, absolves Mr. Oyamo, who is believed to be prime suspect in the murder.

“There are 99.99+pc more chances that Zacharia Okoth Obado is the biological father of the donor of the DNA generated from the foetus, that is Sharon Belyne Otieno’s child,” the statement reads.

“Michael Juma Oyamo is excluded as the biological father of the foetus.”

For the last couple of weeks, Oyamo has been held at Muthaiga police station even as detectives nabbed more suspects linked to the kidnapping and subsequent murder of the former Rongo University student.

Those in cusdody include former MCA Lawrence Mula, driver Jackson Otieno, Obado's bodyguard Elvis Omondi and Caspal Obiero, a man whose vehicle is believed to have been used for kidnapping.

Governor Obado, in his statement, conceded that he was dating the slain student although he vehemently denied plotting for her murder.

His lawyer Cliff Ombeta also said the governor had no problem in accomodating Sharon's expected baby since he had offered to buy her a plot.

Investigations showed that the foetus succumbed after the mother was stabbed eight times.
